Social Media Assistant

Role Overview:

The Social Media Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of Impact Media PNG’s and its clients social media strategies.

​

This includes content scheduling, community management, performance tracking, and supporting the creation of engaging visual and written content.

​

The ideal candidate will be passionate about digital communication, possess strong organisational skills, and have a keen interest in international social media standards and applying it to the PNG context.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Management & Scheduling

  • Assist in planning and maintaining a social media content calendar across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and YouTube.

  • Schedule and post content, ensuring all posts are published accurately, on time, and optimised for each platform.

  • Support the team by researching and proposing content ideas for clients. 

  • Ensure all published content adheres to Impact Media PNG and its clients brand guidelines, tone of voice, and editorial standards.

Community Engagement & Moderation

  • Actively monitor and manage all social media channels, including responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive online community by engaging in conversations, asking questions, and driving audience interaction.

  • Moderate comments and user-generated content to ensure compliance with community guidelines and address any inappropriate content.

  • Identify and flag critical audience feedback, emerging trends, or potential crises to the relevant manager.

  • Performance Tracking & Reporting

Collect and track key social media metrics (e.g. engagement rates, reach, impressions, follower growth etc.)​

  • Assist in compiling weekly and monthly performance reports, providing basic insights on what content performed well and suggestions for improvement.

  • Monitor competitor and industry social media activity to identify new opportunities and best practices.

​

Administrative & General Support​

  • Maintain an organised library of social media assets (photos, videos, graphics).

  • Assist with the coordination and execution of paid social media campaigns.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media platform features, algorithm changes, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Communications, Marketing, Media Studies, Journalism, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.

​

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of practical experience managing professional social media accounts (either in a corporate, non-profit, or agency setting).

​

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using social media management and scheduling tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Tiktok Studio).​

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design principles and familiarity with tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

 

​Soft Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Tok Pisin.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively under deadlines.

  • A proactive, creative, and enthusiastic attitude with a strong interest in learning about social media and technology in PNG.

Content Creator

Role Overview:

As a Content Creator at Impact Media PNG, you are the visual storyteller for our diverse portfolio of clients.

 

You will work alongside the content team to craft digital experiences. You will be responsible for conceptualising, filming, and editing high-impact visual content that resonates with the PNG market while meeting international aesthetic standards.

 

You will work closely with the strategy team to turn brand goals into viral reels, thumb-stopping graphics, and compelling narratives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Multimedia Production: 

  • Assist in the end-to-end production of short-form video content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) and high-quality photography.

  • Identify unique, visually compelling spots across Port Moresby (and beyond) that align with specific client aesthetics.

  • Assist in organising the necessary "bits and pieces" for a shoot—from sourcing local talent/influencers to ensuring brand-specific props are ready.

​

Creative Ideation:

  • Participate in "Big Idea" sessions to brainstorm campaigns that reflect PNG’s unique culture and consumer habits.

  • Transform creative briefs into visual outlines and scripts.

​

Post-Production:

  • Assist in editing raw footage into polished assets using professional software.

  • Assist in multi format exporting for various social platforms. 

  • Communicate with management team for content calendar planning. â€‹

​

On-Site Execution:

  • Travel with content team to client locations, events, or remote project sites to capture "behind-the-scenes" and flagship content.

​

Asset Management:

  • Ensure maintenance of a clean, organised library of raw and finished assets for the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in mobile and/or DSLR cinematography. You must be well versed in CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro.

​

  • Solid working knowledge of Canva or Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator for creating carousels, cover images and static posts.

​

  • A deep understanding of the Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook algorithms—specifically what triggers engagement in the PNG region.

​

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to pitch ideas to clients and collaborate with the internal team.

​

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced agency environment where priorities can shift quickly.
